TIA Scholarship Program
THOUSAND ISLANDS ASSOCIATION FOR THE PRESERVATION OF RIVER QUALITY, Inc. (Canada)
THOUSAND ISLANDS ASSOCIATION, INC. (USA)
For graduating High School Students from Thousand Islands River communities enrolling in first year undergraduate University or College courses or programs. Preference will be given to students enrolled in courses relating to one or more of the three pillars of the Thousand Islands Association: Environmental Awareness, Community Support, and River Safety.
TIA is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1934. It is supported by hundreds of Canadian and American members who are permanent or seasonal residents and who enjoy recreational boating in the Thousand Island region of the upper St. Lawrence River, which extends from east of Kingston to Brockville on the Canadian side and from Cape Vincent to Morristown on the American side.
TIA is not just an Association, but also a Community Organization that is proactive in addressing river safety, promoting environmental awareness, and supporting the interests of the Community for the benefit of the Thousand Islands region. We are here for you, the future generation of our community.
To show our commitment to the river communities, TIA awards one scholarship in memory of John Taylor to a graduating student from a Canadian high school and one scholarship in memory of Marjorie Heagy to a graduating student from a United States high school each year. The TIA Board has pledged a significant award of $1000 to each student, a testament to our belief in your potential and our desire to support your post-secondary education.
